Basically just like any other girl in this world, I was (is still kind-of) obsessed with NARS powdered blush in Orgasm ($29). I bought it almost every Fall since high school in preparation for the colder seasons. The fresh, rosy glow was just what a blushing lady needs during harsh wintry seasons. How could any girl not love it? Give me that glowing, peachy-pink flush!
The problem, at least for me, is that I’ve always pulled long days (and even longer nights in high school and college) and I hate retouching. The powdered NARS blush wouldn’t last. Unlike Benefit Cosmetics Posietint ($30), which I use during Springs and Summers, the powdered color never lasted quite as long as stains do. Thus, I decided to embark on a perfect cold-weather blush-finding expedition. It took me three products until I finally found the right one (the last product listed in this post). Hey, third time’s the charm, right?
First attempt: Like I already mentioned —
Well, gee. After trying to Google (or Sephora) a URL to link to this product, I discovered Urban Decay no longer makes it! It’s okay, though. Although this glided on perfectly — hence the namesake — it never lasted, not even with translucent setting powder. Sad day, on both counts.
Third (and the miraculous final) attempt:
I finally found my perfect match! This blush is apparently sunbaked and “infused with natural clay harvested from the banks of the Amazon River.” That probably means it has hardly any natural clay from the banks of the Amazon River but, nevertheless, it still works like a charm. The clay’s properties are supposed to minimize oil in oily skin types and are also supposed to nourish and hydrate skin for dry skin types. I don’t know how true the claims are but I can say that I have had a wonderful glowy, peachy flush with a hint of shimmer that lasted all day, until I wash my face at night (which, may I point out, makes the blush lasting longer than 12 hours). And gosh, it sure makes my skin look fresh and blushing! I’m in love…
And there you have it, ladies. The perfect blush for winter — or even year-round if you choose!
