A weekend full of sweets in Houston

I took my exploration a little further into Houston this weekend (I’m starting to feel like I’m running out of adventures in Austin – am I crazy or what?!) and ate a ton of sweet food and visited a sweet, old friend and a sweet SOS (refer to middle school acronyms).

First stop with a sweet, old friend:

Appetizer at Brio Tuscan Grille:
Chilled Tomato Caprese Bruschetta – Roma tomatoes, yellow cherry tomatoes,
Mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil, basil, Reggiano, and housemade cilantro pesto

Dinner salads at Brio Tuscan Grille:
Front: Grilled Salmon Salad – Roma tomatoes, asparagus, Feta, crispy shoestring potatoes, and balsamic vinaigrette
Back: Tuscan Harvest Salad – mixed greens tossed with grilled chicken, mushrooms, bacon, almonds, Gorgonzola cheese, apples, dried cranberries, crispy lavoush, and Tuscan Italian dressing

Dylan’s Candy Bar at the Galleria:
What a giant “chocolate” bunny!

Juice Box:
Shaved ice with mango pieces, strawberries, and condensed milk with a scoop of strawberry ice cream.

Second stop with a sweet SOS:

Another Broken Egg Café:
Front: Chez B’s omelette – filled with caramelized onions, marinated and roasted sweet red peppers, and portabellas, topped with feta and parmesan and sprinkled with fresh basil chiffonade, and served with country potatoes and a toasted English muffin
Back (even though you can’t really see it): The Mardi Gras omelette – filled with smoked andouille sausage, red peppers, crawfish, and scallions, topped with a delicate tomato-hollandaise sauce, and served with country potatoes and a toasted English muffin

Another Broken Egg Café:
One of the dining rooms  – love the décor!

Speaking of loving the décor at Another Broken Egg Café…

Another Broken Egg Café:
Whimsical plate collage décor – love this too!

Maggie’s at Market Street:
An insightful and inspirational quoted plate

Totally forgot to take a picture of the actual frozen yogurt we ordered…whoopsy-daisy. But, I had the mango and passionfruit flavors topped with raspberries, sliced almonds, and my favorite rainbow sprinkles.

Frost Bake Shoppe:
Such a dainty, magical-looking place! I thought it should belong to a fairy tale.

Frost Bake Shoppe:
Lemon Raspberry cupcake – fresh lemon cake infused with raspberry puree with lemon buttercream sprinkled with fresh lemon zest

Sweet deal, huh?
